2008 Willard's Family Math Night
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY5uiU29S3M
Thanks to many of you who showed up, helped set up, facilitate,
participate and do some darn math!
It was one of the BIGGEST events in willards recent years. You made it
happen! There were well over 200 people in attendence and that's a
conservative estimate.
A special thanks to you, our wonderful students (many classes had 50% or
more in attendance), ryan chinn (organizer), our PTA, the Downey
Foundation and BPEF.
Have a wonderful break,
Robert and the Math Dept (sounds like a good band name....lol)

Willard Community Members,
As you may know, Willard sixth graders wrapped up a huge scientific feat
last Monday, Operation Landform. Most of you were at work, so Mr
MacCarthy, 6th grade math and science teacher, has encapsulated the event
for you in a short 10 minute video!
Students were asked to research landforms of their choice and write a 5
paragraph essay to accompany their beautiful 3D lanform. The results were
scientifically delicious! This was, in effort, to get them ready for an
even bigger challenge next year, the (drum roll)... Willard's Science Fair!

This is THE number family event of the school year. If you were one
of the unfortunate few who were not here, you have one last chance
in 2008 to join in on the engaging, stimulating, and challenging
fun. FAMILY MATH NIGHT is coming on Wednesday, December 10 from 6-8
pm beginning in the cafetorium. Participate in workshops like
"Math Games from Around the World", "Discover Your Body Ratio",
"Building Cool Shapes in 3 Dimensions", plus lots more. Estimate
your way into the Winner's Circle or be one of the lucky Door Prize
winners just by showing up. Light dinner provided by the Garden/Cooking
crew. Not convinced? See evidence of last year's wildly successful
event on YouTube.
Be there or be an equilateral, equiangular, quadrilateral.
Mathematically yours,
